(CE MAY 2014) The total density of a sand in an embankment was found to be 1900 kg/m3 and the field water content was 11.5%. In the laboratory, the density of solids was found to be 2660 kg/m3 and the maximum and minimum void ratio are 0.62 and 0.44 respectively.
a. What is the dry density of the sand ?
b. What is the void ratio of the sand ?
c. calculate the relative density of the sand in the field.
